History

Since 1879 Vialis Railway Systems has been a manufacturer of high quality railway safety systems, characterised by high reliability and durability. The company has as its objective to be an innovative partner in its chosen market segment, in which it is a supplier of both products, systems and services.

Development, assembly and testing are carried out in–house. Component production is usually sub-contracted. It goes without saying that professional project management, sub–contract management, interface management and internal/external reporting are applicable to the areas of product development and the implementation of projects. Vialis NMA Railway Signalling B.V. was originally founded in 1879 under the name "Alkmaarsche IJzer–en Metaalgieterij". From 1960 to 1991 the "Nederlandse Machinefabriek Alkmaar" also formed part of the Philips electronics company. In 1991 the organisation became independent under the name NMA Holding B.V. The "Nederlandse Machinefabriek Alkmaar B.V." (a high quality engineering company that supplied components/products, etc., to Vialis NMA), NMA Process Systems B.V. (manufacturer of sludge dryers) and NMA Verkeerstechniek B.V. (manufacturer of barrier systems) also formed part of NMA Holding B.V. Since 15 October 2001, 70 % of NMA Railway Signalling has been owned by VolkerWessels N.V., which resulted in NMA Railway Signalling becoming part of the Vialis group of VolkerWessels. In March 2006 the company adopted the name Vialis Railway Systems.

Vialis Railway Systems has approximately 70 employees in Broek op Langedijk. Since 1995 Vialis Railway Systems has developed and supplied products in accordance with ISO–9001.

The history of the development of Vialis Railway Systems in Zeist begins in 1948. At this point Electro Rail was founded with the object of re-building the railways that had been destroyed. In the course of time Electro Rail also carried out various activities in addition to the electrification of the railways, resulting in the name being changed to ER–Groep. In 1990 the branch known as ER Verkeers & Industriële Systemen was added. The ER–Groep, as part of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen, occupied a monopoly position in respect of the supply and maintenance of railway engineering equipment. Owing to the fact that the rail infrastructure was modified in the middle of 1997 as a result of European legislation, VS Systems (traffic- and industrial systems departments, including Railinfra) became part of Volker Stevin Rail & Traffic. After this a merger with Nederland Haarlem resulted in the development of Vialis.

Since the middle of 2006, our company has supported the engineering activities of Vialis Railway System BV – The Netherlands (manufacturer of well-known products such as Point Machines, Signals and Level Crossings in various projects in the Asia Pacific Region. In 2008 Vialis Asia Pacific Ltd. Was established in Australia as a subsidiary of Vialis BV – The Netherlands, due to increasing business in the Asia Pacific region. Since then Transport System Solutions affiliates its business with Vialis Asia Pacific Ltd.

In 2010, Transport System Solutions as a new name for the company is awarded copyrights of Vital Railway Signaling Products such as Point Machines, Signals and Level Crossings. To date, we have supplied point machines, level crossings and railway signals to countries throughout Asia and Africa.
